EndNote is a robust licensed reference management software by the University for current students, staff, and faculty.
- Available for download with Emory NET ID at Emory Software Express.
- For EndNote 21, extra steps are required to install it on PCs. For PC users, download the Zipped folder. When you double click on the folder, you should see 2 items: the installer and a license document. Move both the installer and license document onto your desktop or into a folder on your hard drive. Then click on the installer to install.

Zotero
Open Source
Zotero is a free browser-based extension that helps collect and manage research sources and create bibliographies.
- Download the Desktop application and the browser extension (available for Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Edge) from https://www.zotero.org/
- Use your personal email address to register for a free account to sync your desktop to the cloud.

Mendeley
Open Source
Mendeley is an open source (free) web-based citation manager/organizer that can be used to easily create and share bibliographies with others. App and web-based features allow for easy sharing between devices. There is limited support of this program at the WHSC Library.
- Users receive 2GB of free storage.
- Download either Mendeley Desktop or create a free cloud account at https://www.mendeley.com.
