Environmental Sustainability Committee

The Rose Library Environmental Sustainability Committee aims to create a culture of sustainability at the Rose Library.

Mission, Documents, and Policies

The Rose Library Environmental Sustainability Committee is committed to creating a culture of sustainability through staff education and training, implementation of green strategies, resiliency planning, and outreach to ensure that environmental sustainability is considered in our daily operations. We are guided by an awareness of the environmental footprint of cultural heritage institutions and were founded as an ongoing task force to champion sustainability efforts and to carry out recommendations suggested in our charter, "This Rose is Green".

Emory University Environmental Mission

Emory University has set a series of ambitious goals intended to create a culture of sustainability, many of which directly impact the Rose Library’s daily operations. We aim to connect the Rose Library with the University’s Climate Action initiatives and outline how the Rose Library can change internal practices to align with sustainability goals. Through our Climate Action Plan, we aim to reduce emissions and waste and promote climate resilience as part of workplace operations. In 2022, we were granted funding by the Office of Sustainability Green Office Initiatives Fund to purchase additional receptacles and water carafes to support zero waste events at Rose Library. We are also silver level certified through the Office of Sustainability Initiatives Green Offices program.
